Chapter 13: Advent

In this lesson your child was introduced to the liturgical season of Advent as a time of waiting and preparing for Jesus. For Catholics Advent has a dual purpose. It is a time to prepare for Christmas, when we celebrate the first coming of God's Son. It is also a time to turn our minds to Christ's second coming at the end of time. It is, therefore, a season of joy and expectation.

Faith Summary

  • Advent is a time of waiting to celebrate Jesus' birth at Christmas.
  • We prepare for Christmas by praying and helping others.
