Chapter 17: The Church Celebrates Baptism

In this lesson your child learned that Baptism gives us a share of God's own life and love. We call this grace. Through Baptism we are freed from the slavery of sin and welcomed as members of the Church, the body of Christ. Explain to your child that every baptized person has the responsibility to live as a follower of Jesus. This means that we live our faith in Jesus every day. It also means caring for those in need and those who are treated unjustly. Your example in living your own Baptism will help your child grow in living the faith.

Sign of the Cross

You might want to recall and share your memories about your child's baptismal day. Make the sign of the cross as you bless yourself and your child with holy water. Explain to your child that this reminds us of the water used on our Baptism day.
