In this lesson your child learned that Jesus gave us the Mass. They
also learned about the beginning of the Mass. It is
important that first graders participate in the
celebration of the Eucharist each Saturday evening or
Sunday. It is the center and summit of our Catholic
life. That is why we begin the lesson with a simple
explanation of what it means to gather with others to
worship. Help your child to understand that together we
are the visible expression of the Church. Your child
also began to learn the responses the assembly makes at
Mass. Help him or her to learn these responses by heart.
Mass Booklet
On pages 267-270 of the Grade 1 book you will find My Mass
Book. Have your child show it to you. Read it
together. Encourage your child to bring it to Mass.
