Chapter 20: Lent

In this lesson your child was introduced to the liturgical season of Lent as a special time for prayer and good works. Lent is a season of forty days that begins on Ash Wednesday. During this time Catholics renew their efforts to live their Baptism. They also fast and abstain on certain days. We are encouraged to do works of mercy and justice and to prepare ourselves to celebrate the high point of the Church year--the Easter Triduum.

Faith Summary

  • Lent is a special time to grow in love for Jesus.
  • We remember that Jesus died for us and rose from the dead.

Responding at Mass

Practice the Mass responses with your child. Point them out in My Mass Book and encourage your child to participate as fully as possible at Mass.
