Chapter 4: God Knows and Loves Us

This week your child learned to make the sign of the cross, a sign of blessing and of our belief in the triune God. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are each fully and eternally God. Yet our faith is always in one God, a unity of three in one. The mystery of the Blessed Trinity is the central mystery of Christian faith and life. God has revealed to us this mystery of faith. The doctrine of the Blessed Trinity helps us to understand that God is our Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier. Catholics begin worship and prayer in the name of the Trinity by making the sign of the cross.

The Sign of the Cross

Invite your child to show how he or she can make the sign of the cross. Pray it together before your child goes to bed.

We Care

Ask your child to think of ways that your family can care for our world. Choose one of them that you will do together this week. Perhaps you can invite other families in the parish to join with you in this work of caring.
