This
week your child learned that we listen to and can hear
the word of God proclaimed from the Bible. As the Second
Vatican Council teaches us, the Bible is the word of God
in human language. Centuries ago, Saint Jerome told us
that "ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of
Christ." At Mass we hear readings from both the Old
and New Testament. They root us and nurture us in our
relationship with God, and they move us to live out the
relationship in Jesus Christ. Remind your child at Mass
to listen closely to the readings from the Bible.
