Chapter 12: We Celebrate Reconciliation

Your child has now learned two ways that Catholics celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation. Help your child to understand the things that are always part of the sacrament of Reconciliation. Then use the following activity to encourage your child to rejoice in God's forgiveness.

A Reconciliation Cross

Help your child make a cross either from two small sticks tied with yarn or string, or from heavy paper. Attach yarn or string so that it can be hung around your child's neck or in his or her room. Encourage your child to wear it as you help him or her prepare to celebrate God's forgiveness in Reconciliation.

Reconciliation at Home

Children learn about God's loving forgiveness from the experiences of forgiveness and reconciliation they find in their families. Make sure that your child knows in a tangible way about God's love and forgiveness and what it means to be forgiving and forgiven.
