Chapter 11: We Care for God's World

In this lesson your child learned that God wants us to care for all that God has made. The Catholic faith teaches us that we are stewards of creation. We do not attack the earth; we share and care for it. Our task is to care for its resources, creating a clean and healthy environment for all God's creatures.

Go over the Faith Summary on page 77 with your child. Ask, "What does God want us to do for our world?"

During the week encourage your child to find things to do to show care for God's world. Praise your child for remembering to care.

A Family Ecology Pledge

Participate daily in these family ecology activities.

1. Collect and sort aluminum cans or bottles.

2. Save and bundle newspapers.

3. Place litter in proper receptacles.

4. Other ___________________________________

As a family make a promise to work together to help create a better environment. Read the pledge together and then have all family members sign their first name at the bottom. You might hang it on the refrigerator where everyone can see it.
