Chapter 16: The Holy Family Helps Us

In this lesson your child was introduced to the Holy Family--Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Family life has changed significantly in the past years. The size of families and the way families live together varies greatly. In spite of these changes, we can still look to the Holy Family as a model of persons who lived together in faith and cared for one another. The Catholic Church refers to the family as the "domestic church"--the first and most significant place where the child is nurtured in faith.

During the week point out to your child similarities between the things your family does for one another and how the Holy Family might have acted. Together go over the Faith Summary on page 107.

Time Together

Have your child draw a picture of your family on page 107. Then gather your family and pray this prayer.

Thank You, God, for our family. Help us to be like the Holy Family and work together with love.
