Chapter 1: God Made Us Wonderful

This week your child learned that God created each one of us as a unique individual and in His own image and likeness. It is important to recognize and reinforce these truths, both in ourselves and in our children. A central affirmation of our Catholic faith is the goodness of God's creation. Children need to feel that they are accepted and loved as they are. When we love and accept ourselves as loved by God, we are more able to love and accept others.

Let your child know how special she or he is to you. Remember that your child first experiences God's love through your parental love.

Go over the Faith Summary together. Talk to your child about the fact that God has made each one of us wonderful.

New Friends

Have your child tell about meeting new friends in kindergarten. Ask: What is special about them? Then have your child draw one or two new friends on a sheet of paper.
