Chapter 20: We Celebrate New Life (Easter)

In this liturgical lesson your child heard the Easter story about Jesus' resurrection to new life. The aim of the lesson was not to present the complete account of the death and resurrection of Jesus, but rather to draw the child into an awareness of the new life we receive through Jesus Christ in Baptism--life in which we are to grow and develop.

Take a minute to go over the Faith Summary on page 131 with your child. You might want to ask, for example, "What happened on Easter?" "How does Jesus help us to grow in faith?"

Take your child to Mass on Easter Sunday. Talk about all the signs of new life you see. Together, thank Jesus for the gift of new life.

Springing into New Life

Easter is the season of new life. A butterfly is one sign of new life in springtime. Have your child celebrate spring by coloring the butterfly. Your child might want to attach a butterfly to the sunflower he or she made in class.
