Chapter 4: God Made All People Good

This week your child learned that God made all people good, regardless of their color or size. God has created us in God's image and likeness. All human beings share the same human dignity. This is the source of the firm commitment of Catholic faith to work for justice for all God's people.

Ask your child to explain in his or her own words what each of the Faith Summary statements on page 35 means. Talk about the goodness and gifts in your family and in others in your parish and neighborhood. Reflect on what it means to be fair and just to all.

Your child will be aware of people who are not "good," who are not acting as God wants. Point out that we are free to choose to be good or to choose to be bad. Some people choose not to do what God wants.

God wants us to treat one another with love, justice, and respect. During this week point out to your child the many wonderful things that people of different cultures, nationalities, races, and creeds have done to make our world better and more beautiful.

Paper Doll Activity

Help your child make these paper dolls. Fold a piece of paper in half and in half again. Show how to trace the outline of a person onto the paper. Then help your child to cut out the paper doll on the folded side. Open up the paper and color each doll differently. Display the dolls to remind your family to pray for all people.
